Harrell v. Ford – $4.35 Million

FARRISE LAW FIRM OBTAINS JUSTICE FROM FORD MOTOR CO. FOR MAN DYING OF MESOTHELIOMA — LOS ANGELES JURY AWARDS $4.355  MILLION, FINDS FORD 100% RESPONSIBLE AND DETERMINES AUTO GIANT ACTED WITH MALICE, OPPRESSION OR FRAUD IN EXPOSING PLAINTIFF TO ASBESTOS IN ITS AUTO BRAKES, CLUTCHES & OTHER COMPONENTS

For the second time in recent months, Simona A. Farrise, LL.M and Farrise Law prevail over Ford Motor Company at trial.

On December 13, 2010, a Los Angeles, CA jury awarded $4,355,987 in monetary damages and also found defendant Ford Motor Company acted with Malice, Oppression or Fraud in its conduct towards plaintiff warranting punitive damages.  As the jury actively deliberated the amount of punitive damages to be assessed against it, Ford Motor Company and plaintiffs resolved all claims on confidential terms.

Simona A. Farrise, Esq., LL.M, Farrise Law Firm of Los Angeles, San Francisco & Santa Barbara, tried the case for plaintiffs. This case is the second time in recent months that Farrise has obtained justice over Ford Motor Company at trial where Ford Motor Company was accused of causing an asbestos cancer, mesothelioma, by exposing automobile repair mechanics to asbestos from its automobiles and automotive components. In the first case, Harrell, et al., a Los Angeles Jury awarded a retired auto mechanic $1.6 million and found Ford Motor Company 10% responsible on August 12, 2010.

Asbestos exposures from automotive repair work remains an exposure and disease hazard today given that a number of cars still on the road carry these components as original parts and asbestos parts continue to be sold as replacement parts without a clear warning of the hazards.  For more hazard information see OSHA’s website at http://www.osha.gov/dts/shib/shib072606.html.
